The kitchen has long been considered the heart of the home. Despite changing times and shifting lifestyles, this idea continues to hold true. This thoughtfully designed kitchen serves a family of seven, supporting a full and active life filled with daily routines, shared meals, and meaningful time together. In the years ahead, it will continue to welcome quiet mornings, festive gatherings, and visits from grown children and grandchildren. It’s a space created not just for cooking, but for living.
Jim Martin Design partnered with the homeowners during the construction of their new house in Lancaster, PA, taking on the cabinetry, countertops, and overall design of the kitchen along with several other areas throughout the home. We also worked closely with the builder and interior designer to ensure a cohesive vision that reflects the family’s style and needs.
Every detail in the kitchen was chosen with care. The rich wood tones of the walnut island base blend beautifully with the honed black soapstone countertop, adding warmth and depth to the space. White cabinetry with polished brass hardware brings a timeless elegance, while the fieldstone walls introduce texture and a subtle rustic charm. White natural stone countertops with matching backsplash and shelf run the perimeter. Stainless steel appliances are seamlessly integrated, and the gold-accented range hood adds are fined focal point.
Tall windows let natural light fill the room, highlighting the polished wood flooring and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Pendant lights above the island provide focused illumination and visual rhythm, enhancing both the functionality and style of the space.
This kitchen isn’t just a place to prepare meals. It’s where conversations unfold over dinner prep, where laughter echoes, and where traditions are passed from one generation to the next. As the family grows and changes, this kitchen will remain a constant—a space that welcomes, nourishes, and celebrates life.
